How do I determine the amount of flooring I need?
With the exception of certain types of flooring, a simple rule of
thumb would be to multiply the length of your room times the width for a ballpark
measurement. To get a more exact estimate on the cost of new carpet, tile, vinyl, laminate or hardwood
floors, simply call RS Flooring
America at 603-889-3867 to schedule a free, no-obligation
in-home measurement.
Installation Questions
Will RS Carpet Flooring America remove my old flooring?
Yes, our installers will gladly remove your old carpet, tile, vinyl, laminate or hardwood flooring
for an additional charge. However, if your old vinyl floor contains asbestos
- though this is usually rare - you will need to contact a licensed contractor
to remove this floor if necessary. An RS
Flooring America sales representative will be happy to recommend
a suitable contractor in your area to perform this service.
Will you move my furniture prior to installation of my flooring?
Yes, RS Flooring America can handle the moving of your regular
furniture during installation. This service can be arranged through your sales
representative and will require an additional charge.
Please note that certain pool tables, grand pianos, wood/gas stoves, aquariums,
waterbeds, grandfather clocks and upright pianos must be handled by persons
other than RS Flooring America installers.
In addition, stereos, computers and other such electronics must be disconnected
as well as ice makers on refrigerators.
Can I expect my new flooring to be installed on time?
Absolutely; RS Flooring America is committed to providing prompt,
professional installation of your new carpet, tile, laminate, vinyl, or hardwood
floors. However, on very rare occasions, the date or time may need to be changed
due to circumstances beyond our control. In such an event, we will make every
effort to notify you as far in advance as possible.
Calculating Flooring
Some flooring is sold by the square foot, while some is sold by the
square yard. What is the difference?
Square yard pricing is typically associated with carpet and vinyl
flooring, while square foot pricing is used with hardwood floors, laminate
floors and ceramic tile. At R&S Flooring America, we've made this
conversion easy for you. For your convenience, all of our flooring products
are priced by the square foot.
Carpet Related Questions
What difference does carpet padding make?
Padding has always been the key to a successful purchase in carpeting.
There are several different varieties of carpet padding available. While
all carpeting sold at R&S Flooring America has padding included in the
price of installation, you can increase your carpet's performance with the
proper upgrade. Consult our experienced sales representatives to find out
which upgrade is best for your needs.
What type of carpet is best for high-traffic areas?
If you're choosing carpet for your hallway, stairs, or main living
area, consider Berbers. This type of carpet has always given the best performance
in high-traffic areas where durability is as important as comfort.
For kitchens, foyers, and bathrooms: durable laminate, hardwood, or ceramic
tile floors tend to work best.
How do I protect my carpet?
The very best thing you can do for your new carpet is to vacuum regularly.
A once-a-week vacuuming is best; higher frequency is recommended in high-traffic
areas. When performing this task, vacuum as slowly as possible to get the maximum
performance from your vacuum cleaner. For spot cleaning, please refer to our
Stain Removal Guide.
Hardwood Related Questions
How do I protect my new hardwood or laminate floors?
Always use protective pads under all furniture, tables and chairs.
If you have oriental or area rugs, use a protective non-skid backing to minimize
movement. When cleaning your hardwood and laminate floors, use either a simple
dust mop or the brand of cleaner recommended by the flooring manufacturer.
Tile Related Questions
How do I protect my new ceramic tile floor?
Frequent sweeping and vacuuming will help minimize dirt absorption
in the grout joints of a ceramic tile floor. For tile flooring that is
easier to maintain, consider using epoxy grout as an upgrade to your ceramic
tile installation. It takes the worry out of ceramic tile grout care. Please
contact our sales representatives at 603-889-3867 or stop by our showroom
for more information.
